Sylvia & David

What an honour it was to be a part of this beautiful celebration.

It was a small church wedding on a gorgeous day in May when it had snowed only a few days before. It was quiet and intimate. Even the power going out only added to the magic of the ceremony.

Afterwards, we stole off to the river valley for a few quick portrait shots before these two whisked away in their T-Bird off to celebrate their new marriage with those closest to them.

Enjoy a small sample of the photos from that day.

Bonnie and Doug

What an experience!

What a beautiful wedding.

Bonnie and Doug booked us several years ago to shoot their big day. It feels like so long ago that we braved the bitter February cold for their engagement session. When we signed up for it, it was going to be a standard in-Edmonton event. As time passed however, the idea of a Mexican wedding emerged and we couldn't have been more excited to be a part of it.

The two-week affair started with a small, intimate ceremony at the Sawridge Inn in Edmonton where Doug, a newly graduated RCMP officer, was decked out in his Red Serge, while Bonnie looked stunning in her first of two dresses. We took a few photos there then we were off to Cancun.

A beautiful stay at the Dreams Puerto Aventuras. The staff were excellent. The food was exceptional. The location, every photographer's dream. We are so happy with how the photos turned out.

Here are some of the shots from the Edmonton portion of the wedding.

Thanks again for having us Bonnie and Doug. We are so happy for the two of you.

Julia & Mike's Wedding

Julia and Mike were married a few months ago. They originally had a big wedding planned but decided to have a more intimate ceremony in a park across from the house where Mike grew up. I have known Mike for many years - we were neighbours in a 3-story walkup apartment near Saskatchewan Drive. It's funny how we keep running into each other even though we haven't lived in that building for a long, long time.

I was thrilled and honoured that Mike contacted me to do the photography for this wedding. Even though the day was a little chillier than Julia would have liked (she was the one who had to brave the cold the most after all), it was a beautiful wedding. The colours in that park could not have been better! Julia looked beautiful and Mike looked very handsome in his suit. It was pretty easy to get good photos under those circumstances!

We wish Julia & Mike a lifetime of happiness!

Alicia & Rob's Wedding

We love working with all of our clients, but there's no question that working with Alicia & Rob is always a fun time. They were in the wedding party for the wedding we shot for Robert & Melissa back in 2012 and it's safe to say that Rob was more than a handful that day. When they booked us for their wedding, we knew that this day was going to be a little zany, and they did not disappoint!!

A nice part of the day was stopping at Central Social Hall for a while. We were able to get several great shots while we were there!

Alicia & Rob have been together since High School  and it is obvious that they are meant to be together for the rest of their lives. The most obvious clue that this is true is the fact that Alicia is able to put up with Rob and his craziness!! HA!

We wish you all the best Alicia & Rob!!

Anna-Maria & Dwayne

Anna-Maria & Dwayne had quite a rockstar wedding. Once the couple were all dressed and ready to get married we headed off (the men in a limo and the ladies in a rockstar tour bus) to Hastings Lake Gardens, which is about 40 minutes outside of Edmonton.

After a beautiful ceremony in a gazebo we stayed at the Gardens and were able to capture some pretty amazing photos on the grounds. There was a rustic cabin, some old tractors and a great old truck.

Once we finished at that location we all piled into the rockstar bus and made our way back to Edmonton for the reception. It was a ton of fun (complete with the Bride smashing her Groom's face into the cake!).

Congrats Anna-Maria and Dwayne! We wish you all the best.

Sue & Chris

What a great wedding!

Brad and I got connected with these two when we shot the wedding of my good friend (Chris' daughter) Sabrina. It was a short and beautiful ceremony at the Hotel MacDonald, followed by a quick round of photos before dinner.

We were honoured to be a part of the big day and despite the autumn showers, were pretty happy with how the photos turned out.

Enjoy and congrats Sue & Chris!

Paula & Andrew Got Married!

This wedding had heart.

It was clear from the first time we met these two that they loved each other deeply. Even more so when we went back to the Red Ox Inn, the place of their first date, for their engagement session that this was a pretty special thing. That sentiment rang true throughout their entire wedding day.

From the beautiful church wedding, to the gorgeous farm property to the quick tours of Stony Plain and Spruce Grove, we spent the entire day just one step ahead of the rain which left us with nothing but dramatic skies and cool temperatures.

Here is a sample of what we captured on that day. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Melissa & Ben's Wedding

Melissa and Ben's wedding was such a simple and classy event. It was such a relaxed day that started with a first look at Tavern 1903, then a walk to the beautiful entryway of the Hardware Grill, followed by a stroll around the block.

There is something to be said for the bridal party that doesn't necessarily match with identical outfits, but each member gets to showcase their personal style. I love how it all came together. We then headed off to Latitude 53 for the ceremony, followed by a delicious dinner catered by my all time favourite restaurant Culina, then speeches, and a great party.

Thanks so much for including us in your day. It was such a treat. Enjoy a snippet of what we got on the day.

Amy & Ian are Married

What an awesome day! We had so much fun with these two. When Amy & Ian laid out the design of the space where the ceremony and reception were taking place, neither Brad or I could help but get excited.

It was a beautiful room, gorgeously lit. The Westbury Theatre at Fringe Theatre Adventures can be an intimidating space. These two pulled it off magnificently. The day was so smooth. It included a much appreciate drink and appetizer stop at MKT which allowed us to get some pretty great photos.

Thanks so much for letting us be a part of the big day guys. I hope you dig the shots as much as we do.

Gaea & Kurt are Married

You may remember these two from their awesome engagement session in the mystery location. Well now it is time for the big day!

Man, this was a great wedding! During the entire day it looked like it was going to rain, but not one drop fell. It was just the perfect lighting conditions outside. The bridal party was hilarious. But the best part was the pace of the whole day. It was so well timed and so relaxed.

We had a great time and I think the fun comes through in the shots.

Congrats Gaea and Kurt!

Caitlin & Austin - The Wedding

Caitlin & Austin’s wedding began late in the afternoon at the Union Bank Inn on Saturday October 5th. Their goal was to have their day be more of a party than a typical wedding, and they were definitely successful.

While Caitlin & Austin were upstairs getting ready in their hotel rooms, the guests waited in the ballroom where the ceremony was being held and had a drink or two and socialized. Party mode never stopped from that time on.

After the couple read their tearful vows to one another and they were pronounced husband and wife, they zipped up to their bridal suite with the Best Man and Maid of Honour to sign the official documents. This allowed for a bit of a breather to relax and enjoy a little champagne before returning to the awaiting crowd of friends and family.

The two newlyweds returned to the party and had a great time mingling with their guests.

The very next morning the couple headed off for their Honeymoon in Mexico.

It is clear that Caitlin & Austin love each other very much. You only have to watch them for a minute to see that they are meant to be together.

We wish them all the best as they start a new chapter in their lives as Husband and Wife.

Here are some of our favourite photos from their wedding:

Kristen & Mark

The wedding of Kristen & Mark on August 24th was our second wedding in Edson. The first was Juniper & Adam last year. Kristen is Juniper’s cousin. I think it is safe to say that Dave and I are now part of the Edson family!!

One of the nicest things to come out of Juniper & Adam’s wedding was the fact that we found Emily. Some of you have met her. She is Juniper’s sister and we became good friends with her following that wedding and she has joined us on several weddings as our third photographer. She is a fine young lady and we are always thrilled to work with her.

Dave, Emily and I hopped in the car early in the morning and headed off to meet Kristen & Mark in Edson. Dave and Emily took the photos of Kristen getting ready and I was with Mark for his prep time. Once they were ready, we met to set up the First Look at a park close to their house. Have we mentioned enough times yet how much we love the First Look? It’s always a special part of the day for us and this was no exception.

From the first look we headed off to the ceremony that was held outdoors at Mark’s parents’ house. It was short but very sweet!

We then headed down to the river behind the house to take some photos of the Bride and Groom with the wedding party - couldn’t ask for a nicer setting, that’s for sure.

Once we finished those photos, we headed out on the road with just Mark & Kristen to take more photos of the two of them. And by “on the road”, we mean it literally!! We pulled off in the middle of the highway to get some nice images of the two of them in the middle of the road (and one of them in the fancy Thunderbird car that they were lucky enough to be driving around in). It was quite fun.

Back to town to take some photos of the wedding party at their favourite local pub (attached to the hotel where the reception was held) and then it was time for the reception.

We ended the night by taking a few photos of their rings. Dave and I always like to come up with something unique or special to the couple for these shots. This time we were able to place the rings on the word “Thunderbird” on the side of their wedding car (as seen below).

All in all, it was another great time in Edson.

Kristen & Mark, we thank you for treating us so nice during our time in your town and we wish you all the best in your newly married lives.

Here are some of our favourite moments from the wedding.

Jen & Pierre

It seems like our last few weddings have featured rain during the day.  It was no different for the wedding of Jen & Pierre on September 7th but that didn't stop us from doing everything we could to get great images for them (we love a challenge!).

We started the day photographing each of them getting ready then headed to the park behind their house for the First Look. This is where the couple get to see each other for the first time. It’s always a very special part of the day that Dave and I love setting up with a couple.

From there we set off to the formal photo part of the day – this is when the rain started. We managed to very quickly get a lot of photos of the couple and the wedding party before making our way to the ceremony in Cardiff Park.

The rain continued throughout the ceremony but it didn't matter… it was a very beautiful ceremony! (And it was funny to see the Justice of the Peace trying to read his words on his rain-covered iPad!)

Once the couple were officially married they got back into the amazing vintage cars that were loaned to them by a family friend and we took a few more photos of the newlyweds at their house before moving on the reception.

Jen did a ton of work on the rustic decorative elements for her wedding and they looked fantastic. She enlisted the work of Sofia from Awespiring Weddings to make sure everything was taken care of for her big day and it was very much worth it. The Morinville Community Cultural Centre looked so great. The flowers that Fabloomosity provided were beautiful – Jen could not have loved her bouquet more.

One of the highlights of the reception was the slideshow that was prepared by Jen’s cousin Lauren. It featured still images, videos and some hilarious interviews with family and friends. Definitely the most creative slideshow we’ve seen so far!

After a great meal, a cake cutting, bouquet and garter toss and first dance by the couple, it was time to party. And we have to say that it was awesome to see such a happy group of people dancing up a storm on the dance floor.

We wish Jen & Pierre a very happy life together and thank them for allowing us to be a part of their excellent day.

Take a look at some of the moments we captured on the day:

Danica & Ryan

We LOVE this family. They have been so good to Brad and I. I've known Chantal for years. We got into working with this group when she needed family photos done for her Christmas cards one year. Then later in the year, we got asked to shoot the engagement party for her sister Danica. That's where we met these two.

A year later, the big wedding day arrives and did not disappoint. The ceremony (complete with a Chinese tea ceremony and some amazing desserts from Duchess Bakery!!) was held at the Union Bank Inn. From there we walked a little down Jasper Ave until we were bombarded by a hail storm and had to duck into Commerce Place. This is where Brad and I got to show off our MacGyver skills. A quick phone call by Ryan to a closed Lux and we got to shoot in the beautiful restaurant. We had it all to ourselves! The staff there could not have been more awesome.

After that, it was a quick trip over to Sabor Divino for dinner. The food was exquisite!

We had such a great time with these two. Check out this quick selection of shots from the day!

Nicole & Carl

Nicole & Carl were married on Saturday July 27th of this year. It was a day of mixed weather, that's for sure. Just when we were all set to start the formal photo portion of their day, the rain began to fall so we had to think up a new plan very quickly. We decided to duck into The Public House pub to get a few photos of the couple with the wedding party. Well, it turned out very well! We were able to get many great shots while we were there (big thank you to The Public House staff for letting us shoot there).

After a while in the pub, the rain stopped so we took to the streets. We managed to find several great locations within a few minutes from the pub and got more great shots of this fantastic couple.

Dave and I met up with Nicole & Carl a few days ago to deliver their final images to them and they seem to be very happy with what we were able to capture on that day in spite of the weather challenges. We were quick to point out that their relaxed schedule (they built in several hours of photo time) really made it all possible. Everyone was upbeat and had a great afternoon.

Please take a look below at some of the images we captured from their day.

Nicole & Carl, it was a pleasure working with you both and we wish you a lifetime of happiness together.

Kelly + Tate

Kelly is a long time friend of mine. We met years ago at the UofA while getting our theatre degrees. Since then, life has changed. Families have been started. Kelly moved to Toronto. You don't know what it meant to me when she sent me a message asking if we would shoot her wedding in June.

Shoots like this are very special.  Brad and I had so much fun with these two running around, taking shots in our old stomping grounds at the university. Much like us, much has changed and much has stayed the same.

Check out our favourite shots from the day.

Congrats you guys! Thanks for making us part of the big day.

Erica + Tyler - A Year Later

In the busy world of wedding photography, we missed doing a full post for Erica & Tyler's big day. Well, here we are one year later.

When better than on their 1st anniversary to post some of our favourite shots from their wedding.

Happy anniversary Erica & Tyler!

Shelby & Brandon - A Beautiful Canmore Wedding

I think we hit every type of weather on this big day. Rain, fog,  blue skies, sun & snow. I have to say, it feels like it worked in our favour. Shelby and Brandon were used to being in not ideal weather from our engagement session with them a few months back.

This group was incredible! We had such a great time. The mountains revealed themselves at the exact right time. The snow fell right at dinner. It was a perfect day.

Enjoy these selected images from the day and check out our other wedding photos here!

Jennifer & David - Wedding Day

One of our favourite things to photograph is a “first look”. For those who don’t know what that is, it is when we get to photograph the moment the couple see each other for the first time on their Wedding day. It sounds simple, but it is honestly one of the most emotional events we get to experience. The expressions on the faces of these two people who are so much in love and adore each other so much is priceless. Dave and I love the challenge of figuring out exactly where to set up these first look scenes, but in this case the happy couple came up with the solution. They actually met each other while working at Dairy Queen many years ago, so they arranged to allow us to photograph in the restaurant. It was perfect. We had the bride’s sister deliver an ice cream cone in between them and when they grabbed for it, they were allowed to see each other for the first time. As you may notice in the photo below, David was actually stunned by the beauty of his bride-to-be!

We had such a fun day travelling around downtown Edmonton on a wintry day. The weather was not too bad at all and allowed us to get several outdoor shots without the bride and groom freezing to death.

Congrats Jennifer & David! Thanks for letting us be a part of your day!!
